Got Friends?

A. Unabashed Pacifist:

One good turn deserves another. Let’s turn to peace and see what happens.

B. Unabashed Christian:

Holy One,

In the flow of daily activities, we often forget about you. The cares or joys draw us in and capture our attention and devotion. I see this as no slight to you, for I believe you want us to be fully engaged with life and to experience it to the utmost. You do not put us in cages or cells or cubicles. You expect fruitfulness. You encourage abundance of life. Like any loving parent, you find satisfaction when we know happiness.

Thus, when I am not thinking about you, but engaged in my activities, you do not mind. I need not feel pangs of guilt when I do remember you and attend to you. I can appreciate and love you all the more for letting me live my life.
Amen

C. Un-quoting Jesus:

“That Mary Magdalene is one hot babe!”

[Sorry, DaVinci Code fans, but He never said this. Not in English…]

D. Blog: Friends
The song says “Make new friends, but keep the old…” Good advice, because friends keep us grounded and move us beyond ourselves. Old friends add depth and breadth to our lives. They connect us to our former selves and the memories we have shared. Friends expand our experience of life by sharing what is meaningful to them. New friends expose us to different life experiences and different views in ways that make them easier to understand and accept. Our lives are richer, broader, fuller when we receive a collection of friends to treasure.
