A. Unabashed Pacifist:
We celebrate the end of war. We grieve the end of peace.
B. Unabashed Christian:
Holy One,
We need silence.
How can we think without it?
Or reflect or meditate or pray?
Thus, I will wear no device in my ear for hearing music or telephone.
It would make hearing you far too difficult.
Amen
C. Un-quoting Jesus:
“Can you hear me now?”
[Cited in an earlier blog, but He didn’t repeat it either.]
D. Blog: Sounds of Silence
What do I hear in the sounds of silence?
My ears stand alert and ready, but they hear only their singing selves.
My mind wants to focus on this moment, but it hears itself racing about in search of a thought, an image, an encouraging word.
My heart beats on autopilot – until its metaphorical counterpart hears the cries in Burma, China, Africa, Iraq, Palestine, prisons, hospitals and homeless shelters.
My silence has ended.
