Stood Up, Again

A. Unabashed Pacifist:

Peace comes to those who “wait” upon it, in both senses of that word.

B. Unabashed Christian:

Holy One,

You supply enough to go around. Enough joy. Enough love. Enough peace. Enough laughter. Enough beauty. Enough stimulation. Enough mystery. Enough wonder. Enough challenge.

There is plenty, in other words, to satisfy our hunger and thirst for more than our physical needs.
Amen

C. Un-quoting Jesus:

“Are you smarter than a 5th grader?”

[He didn’t say this when He stayed behind in Jerusalem as a 12-year-old and astounded the temple priests.]

D. Blog: "Stood Up"

We had an appointment, but my sister stood us up. Okay, she forgot. Simple enough. Not so simple, apparently, is finding out where this “stood up” terminology came from. My usual sources of such information can only tell me what it means (Duh!), not how it makes any sense to say breaking a date has anything to do with standing up. Any ideas??
