No Deal??

A. Unabashed Pacifist:

My peace does not depend on your war.

B. Unabashed Christian:

Holy One,

Give us the will and the courage (i.e., spiritual power) to do what is required: do justice, love mercy, walk humbly with you.

Give us, too, the wisdom to overcome the temptations to let fear, apathy and cynicism dampen the fires of compassion. Let hope guide our steps as we seek to honor you and your dominion coming on Earth as it is in heaven.
Amen

C. Un-quoting Jesus:

“No deal, Satan.”

[Not in those words, at least as recorded by those who weren’t there at the time.]

D. Blog: Father’s Day

I don’t know how the day could have been better. The family together for worship with our faith community, a fine meal in one of my favorite restaurants (Thai-Laotian), strolling through the studios in our River Arts District and chatting with various artists about their work, ice cream at our friends’ newly opened shop, some gifts of clothing to compensate for my lousy fashion sense and stinginess when it comes to buying clothes, topped off by an outing on the Blue Ridge Parkway to enjoy the views as dusk approached, walking in the woods, and playing with my camera. And then, not that I needed it to improve an already perfect day, a Lakers victory.

PS: Thought for the day: Why do we say under par is good in golf, not so good in other situations?
