A. Unabashed Pacifist:
Don’t let the light go out. Do something for peace today.
B. Unabashed Christian:
Holy One,
The views of trees, mountains, sunlight – the refresh my soul. In them I find rest and peace, and I receive new energy.
The experience of beauty in art and craft and people – they keep my hope alive. In them I take confidence that your divine experiment with life is absolutely worthwhile.
The encounters with people who care and create – they give joy to my spirit. In them I know connection -- to them and, through them, to you.
I feel wrapped in the embrace of your grace.
Amen
C. Un-quoting Jesus:
“Kill the umpire!”
[He never said it, wasn’t a fan of American sports.]
D. Blog: Letters, Words, Word
We sometimes speak of “persons of letters.” I don’t know about the terminology, but it leads me to reflect that letters, in one sense, are nothing unless they convey words. In another sense, a letter is nothing unless its words express something important or meaningful, and do so clearly.
Words are wonderful. It’s no wonder that the Gospel of John identifies Christ as the ultimate word from God. He conveys meaning. He speaks clearly in words and deeds. He reveals God to us, God’s too often blind and deaf human children.
Give thanks for words and for The Word Made Flesh.
