A. Unabashed Pacifist:
There’s a hole in my peace bucket. The peace leaks out all over the place. Because this is a special bucket, however, I never run out of peace.
B. Unabashed Christian:
Holy One,
When joy fills my heart and love envelopes me, it is well with my soul.
When my life is hectic, it is well with my soul.
When too many demands are made upon my time and energy, it is well with my soul.
When pain afflicts my body or my spirit, it is well with my soul.
When the world’s troubles threaten to drown my hope, it is well with my soul.
When conflict rages between nations or in my family, it is well with my soul.
When I mourn the loss of loved ones or former abilities, it is well with my soul.
When I meet you now or in the future, you have taught me to say, “It is well with my soul.”
Amen
C. Un-quoting Jesus:
“For a good time, see Esther. Or, to be inclusive, see Hosea or Esther, you choose.”
[No way, no how!]
D. Blog: From the Arrest Blotter
Sept. 24, 2008
- ASHEVILLE – Buncombe County Sheriff’s deputies Tuesday charged an Asheville man with breaking in to a woman’s residence and stealing coins and snuff. Kevin Richard Smith, 20, is charged with breaking and entering and larceny. His bond was set at $5,000.
[Reactions: (a) Stealing a woman’s snuff? Lock him up! Lock her up, too, for being so stupid as to chew that nasty stuff! (b) Coins? As in quarters and pennies? Lock him up! (c) How high was this guy? That’s all he found of value in the house? (d) Such serious crime in Asheville warrants a $5000 bond, I guess.]
