A. Unabashed Pacifist
Flowers for Peace offer this comment:
“We hate war. There’s a reason why no flower is associated with war. We belong with war’s victims. The rose in the barrel of a gun is an image of conversion from war to peace. Whenever you see a flower, think peace.
B. Unabashed Christian:
Holy One,
We have time. We can afford to give.
We have marvelous abilities. We can afford to give.
We are rich. We can afford to give.
We have wonderful lives. We can afford to give.
We receive much love. We can afford to give.
We are richly blest. We can afford to give.
We have your care. We can afford to give.
Amen
C. Un-quoting Jesus:
“My sign? Virgo, I think.”
[Well?? No, didn’t say it.]
D. Blog: Religious Tradition
A new minister at a historic old church quickly noticed that during prayers one half of the congregation would stand and the other would sit. Try as she might she could not get the congregation to agree. The group who sat said it was always the tradition to sit, and the group who stood said that was always the tradition. No matter what she did to have them resolve the disagreement, it would always turn into an argument. She decided to visit the old minister in the retirement home where he had moved and find out which group was correct. She asked the old minister if the tradition was to sit and he said “No.” Then she asked if the tradition was to stand and again he said “No.” Frustrated, the young minister said “Well all they do is argue about it.” The old minister said “Now that is the tradition.”
