I think you must laugh at much of our silliness – remember pet rocks? I like to think you laugh at some of our doings and that you enjoy occasional guffaws. The Oh God! Portrait of you enjoyed a laugh now and then. Maybe you even play practical jokes…

I hope the laughter helps offset the weeping you must do when you experience our violence to one another and to your Earth. It is said to be the best medicine, one of the priceless gifts that costs nothing.

These days we don’t see enough laughter in people. That’s one of the things that makes listening to the news so depressing – so little to make us laugh. When we get together, I hope you’ll share your favorite jokes with me.
