My Conquering Hero

A. Unabashed Pacifist:

Jesus is my model of a conquering hero.

B. Unabashed Christian:

Holy One, Patient One,

From your eternal perspective, this thing we call patience might not seem like much. But from our time-bound perspective, it’s incredible how patient you are. Millennia of millennia for life to evolve and for geographical features to change. Centuries for our understanding of you to grow. Centuries, too, for us to show preference against slavery, against war. Most of a lifetime for some of us to want to approach you in penitence or wonder.

You don’t seem to lose patience. You simply wait for the time to be right for what you “want” to happen, for what is in accordance with your “will” to take place.

It’s a marvel when I get to see those points arrive on the smaller scale, within world events or in a life. I wait, patiently I hope, for such patience.
