A. Unabashed Pacifist:

In peace I rise.

B. Unabashed Christian:

Holy One,

You care for your sheep when we hunger and thirst.
You care for your sheep when we are sick or injured.
You come looking for your sheep when we go astray.
You protect your sheep from predators, sacrifice your own safety for ours.
You speak and we know your voice as one we can trust.
You never desert us or leave us to the clutches of those who seek only their own advantage.
You give shepherds a good name and make shepherding a high calling.

C. Un-quoting Jesus:

“I prefer the realism and hope of the 22nd to the sentimentality of the 23rd.”

D. Blog: Word of the Week – “prosopopeia”

[Thanks to the Online Etymology Dictionary, I now know there’s a word for my Jesus un-quoting, although I like my un-word better.]

1561, from Gk. prosopopoiia "the putting of speeches into the mouths of others," from prosopon "person, face" (lit. "that which is toward the eyes," from pros "to" + ops "eye, face") + poiein "make". A rhetorical figure in which an imaginary or absent person is made to speak or act.
